A Pharmacovigilance, Vaccine Safety Review Meeting with key stakeholders took place from April 23-24, 2024, in Adama. The workshop was organized by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) in collaboration with GHSC-PSM.
The primary objective of the workshop was to evaluate the performance of the past six months, highlight successes and challenges, outline future steps, and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
In her opening speech, Mrs. Asnakech Alemu, the head of the Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Trial Executive Office, emphasized the significant national efforts made, including an increase in the number of trained professionals, the establishment of regional task forces comprising safety stakeholders, an increase in safety (ADE/AEFI) reports, and a rise in the investigation of serious adverse events (SAEs). She noted that both the challenges and achievements were discussed during the meeting.
The review workshop saw the participation of 73 individuals from EFDA headquarters, EFDA branch offices, regional regulatory bodies (RHBs), and various partners.
