Massive Seizure of Illegal Malaria Drugs worth 29 Million Birr in Ethiopia during Joint Operation
On July 16, 2024, a collaborative operation involving the Customs Commission, State and Federal Police was carried out in multiple cities including Konso, Jimana, and Addis Ababa.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal malaria drugs, specifically in Konso city. The seized malaria drugs have an estimated value of 29,172,000 birr. The Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority has confirmed that operations to address this issue are on-going in various regions.
